CLOSING PERFORMANCE - AN OPERA, OF SORTS
SUNDAY, JUNE 14TH, 5PM
with Josh Rauber

FROM PALOMA:

"I am excited and honored to present a live performance of the sound that was created for and during this residency. I approached and envisioned this body of work as an opera of sorts.

I had previously spent three months playing and recording experimental noise with a very talented death metal musician, song writer, and sound engineer Josh Rauber. When we met we had a strong creative connection and we both had loss and grief in our lives. We decided to work together to create music and sound to communicate with and honor the spirits of our ancestors.

We will be playing live Sunday, June 14th at 5:00pm, for a theatrical performance of the sound to them, the spirits and the ancestors. It will be a great and final opportunity to see the exhibition and experience it in a very dynamic environment with the sound coming alive. Sound has been the force of this work. Paint for me has sound and rhythm. It should be a beautiful experience to be had.

I would love to share this wonderful final healing experience with all of you and look forward to the performance. I am grateful for the opportunity to explore grief in a beautiful healing and empowering way, through my art. It's gorgeous to find the beauty in our darkness. Thank you."

Paloma Modupe:

In this residency "Ripening" I will be presenting paintings, video, sound art, and installation. The works are explorations in creative intelligence, birth, death, grief, healing and rebirth.

This work I'm doing is about love and lightness and healing and song and dance and healing Mother Earth and all that is. All medicine to this cleansing.

I have been at a total blank like never before about what to say about body of art. I will be making work there. I will add on as I feel I can express more.
